In short Use Conscription lawfully, fairly to your customers, and without trying to break, abuse, or overload the service. This policy supplements our Terms of Service.

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy sets out how you may and may not use the Conscription app. It exists to keep the service safe, reliable, and lawful for every merchant and their customers. By using the app you agree to follow it.

2. Prohibited use

You must not use the app to:

  • break any applicable law or regulation, including consumer-protection, subscription, distance-selling, and data-protection law;
  • infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
  • commit or facilitate fraud, money laundering, or deceptive billing;
  • set up subscriptions designed to mislead customers about price, frequency, renewal, or cancellation terms;
  • send unlawful, harassing, or unsolicited communications; or
  • violate Shopify’s terms, policies, or acceptable use requirements.

3. Products & subscriptions

You are responsible for what you sell and for making your subscription terms clear and fair. Do not use the app to sell prohibited, illegal, or restricted goods or services, or to run recurring charges that a customer did not knowingly agree to. You must honour cancellations, skips, and pauses requested through the customer portal or otherwise required by law.

4. Security & integrity

You must not:

  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the app or its infrastructure without our written permission;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, data, or systems;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or copy the app except where permitted by law;
  • interfere with, overload, or disrupt the service, its workers, or its APIs (including abusive automated requests); or
  • introduce malware or attempt to circumvent usage limits, billing, or security controls.

5. Responsibilities to your customers

As the merchant, you are the data controller for your customers’ data and are responsible for your own privacy policy, lawful basis, disclosures, and consumer obligations. Conscription processes data on your instructions as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Enforcement

If you breach this policy, we may, depending on severity, warn you, suspend or limit access, or terminate your use of the app. Where there is risk of harm, fraud, legal liability, or threat to the service, we may act immediately. Serious or illegal activity may be reported to Shopify or the relevant authorities.

7. Reporting abuse

If you believe someone is misusing Conscription, or you have a security concern, please contact us at support@conscription.co.uk. We take reports seriously and aim to respond within one business day.
