Summary These terms govern your use of the Conscription app. Conscription is a fixed-fee Shopify subscriptions tool; payments and your store run on Shopify. You pay a predictable plan fee with no transaction percentage. You can cancel any time, and you remain responsible for how you use subscriptions with your own customers.

1. Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you (“you”, “Merchant”) and Conscription, operated by Lewis Morris (“Conscription”, “we”, “us”). By installing, accessing, or using the Conscription app or this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the app.

2. Who we are

Conscription is a subscriptions and bundles application for the Shopify platform, operated by Lewis Morris, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at support@conscription.co.uk.

3. Eligibility

You must operate an eligible Shopify store, be able to form a binding contract, and use the app in compliance with these Terms, Shopify’s terms, and all applicable laws. If you use the app on behalf of a business, you represent that you’re authorised to bind that business.

4. The service

Conscription provides tools to create and manage Shopify subscriptions, selling plans, subscription contracts, app-defined bundles, renewal billing, a customer self-service portal, and related merchant dashboards. Features may evolve over time. We may add, change, or remove features, and we’ll aim to avoid breaking essential functionality without notice.

5. Shopify & your store

The app operates on top of Shopify and depends on Shopify’s platform, APIs, billing, and checkout. Your use of Shopify is governed by your agreement with Shopify, not by us. You are responsible for your store, your products, your customer relationships, your own customer-facing terms and privacy policy, and your compliance with consumer and subscription laws applicable to your business.

Conscription is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Shopify Inc. “Shopify” is a trademark of Shopify Inc.

6. Plans & billing

App fees are charged on a fixed-fee basis according to the plan you select, based on your subscription revenue band or active subscriber count. Conscription does not charge a percentage of your individual orders (0% transaction fees).
Fees are billed through Shopify’s app billing in GBP on a recurring monthly or annual schedule, and you approve charges within your Shopify admin.
Approximate USD figures shown on our site are for display only; you are billed in GBP.
If your usage exceeds your plan’s band, you may be required to upgrade to continue using the corresponding capacity.
Except where required by law, app fees already charged are non-refundable. Annual plans are charged upfront for the period.
We may change pricing; changes apply from your next billing cycle and, for material changes, we’ll give reasonable notice.

7. Free plan & development stores

The Free plan lets you run real subscriptions within its limits at no cost, and development stores may use the app for free. Free usage is provided “as is” and may be subject to limits or changes. We may modify or discontinue free tiers with reasonable notice.

8. Cancellation & uninstall

You may cancel your plan or uninstall the app at any time from your Shopify admin. Cancellation stops future app charges; fees already billed for the current period are not pro-rated unless required by law.

Important: uninstall affects subscription management Conscription manages subscription operations such as renewal billing and the customer portal. Uninstalling the app can affect app-owned subscription management for your store, including renewals and grouped bundle handling. Please review your active subscriptions before uninstalling. On uninstall, we mark your shop inactive, revoke portal tokens, and clean up or redact app-owned data as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the app, including by attempting to breach security, reverse engineer it (except as permitted by law), overload or disrupt the service, use it for unlawful, fraudulent, or infringing purposes, or use it to sell prohibited goods or run subscriptions that violate applicable law or Shopify’s policies. 10. Data & privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. For data the app processes on your store’s behalf, you are the controller and we act as your processor on your instructions. You are responsible for having a lawful basis and the necessary disclosures to your own customers.

11. Intellectual property

The app, website, and all related software, content, branding, and the Conscription name and logo are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your store while you comply with these Terms. You retain ownership of your own store data and content.

12. Availability & support

We aim to keep the app reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, particularly given dependence on Shopify and third-party providers. Support is provided by email at support@conscription.co.uk, with a target response within one business day.

13. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will meet every requirement or that renewal billing outcomes, which depend on Shopify and payment providers, will always succeed.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Conscription will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the app or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the app fees you paid to us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) £100.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Conscription from claims, damages, and reasonable expenses arising from your use of the app, your products and subscriptions, your relationship with your customers, or your breach of these Terms or applicable law.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the app or legal requirements change. We’ll update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify merchants. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory local consumer law gives you other rights. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
